6 Tips for getting your identification done
With the widespread use of the Internet and the resulting increase in the use of online services, the risk of encountering fraudulent individuals is rising for private customers, business customers and the companies themselves. Accordingly, for security reasons it is important and often mandatory to identify the customers of payment service providers by means of Know-Your-Customer (KYC). It is particularly necessary in all areas of the financial sector. These are obliged to comply with money laundering laws (anti-money laundering) and the associated identification of users. This means that anyone who wants to open and use an account with a payment provider must go through this procedure. Identification is used, for example, to detect people who have stolen other people’s data. With the right identification procedure, it is almost impossible to be confirmed with false personal data.
Nowadays, verification of a person’s authenticity does not always take place “face to face”. PayPodo’s customers are also identified “remotely”, but this is done AI-supported, i.e. fully automated. It offers valuable advantages for customers, because the identification process on the Internet is already timesaving, but with the AI-supported KYC process, identification is completed even faster and it can be done from anywhere, provided one has an Internet-enabled mobile device. Thanks to the AI-powered identification method at PayPodo, all you need for identification is a photo (photos of both sides, if applicable) of an approved document and a photo of yourself. To avoid unnecessary disruptions in the identification process, we have put together 6 tips for you here:
1. Nicknames and typos
If you enter your name manually during registration, it is important to use your real name. Nicknames can be nice but will not match the document you will use to identify yourself. Also, the consequences of spelling mistakes when entering your own name should not be underestimated. Therefore, please check the information you have entered before confirming it.
2. The right document
Before starting your identification process, check which documents are accepted for this purpose. If you want to identify yourself with a document that is not approved for your country, you will fail the identification process for a reason that could be avoided. Therefore, you can view the approved documents for identification at PayPodo here.
3. Validity of the document
An expired document is a document that logically lacks the effect of a valid document. It should not be used for identification purposes. If you use it anyway, your identity will not be confirmed. If your document is expired, make sure that your document is updated before identification or use another approved and valid document.
4. Undamaged document
Make sure your selected document is not damaged (e.g., painted, smudged by liquid, or torn). Documents have security features that are not visible to the naked eye. If these or any information readable by the naked eye is compromised, the document may cause the identification process to be aborted. Nobody wants that.
5. Do not disconnect from the Internet
Since the ID process is performed with the smartphone, it is necessary to keep an internet connection intact while the process is being performed. It takes PayPodo about 10 minutes to verify your identification. Do not turn off access to the internet you are using.
6. Good photos equal sharp photos
If you take a photo of your document, it is good if it is well lit. This also applies when you take a photo of yourself. If the photos are too dark, the photos may become useless for identification. The same applies to blurry photos. A good photo is one that is well lit and sharp or legible.
All in all
With the right preparation and taking the above tips to heart, identifying yourself will not be a problem. If the process does not work for some reason, it is still possible to contact support. The support will usually give you another opportunity to repeat the process.
